Can a Navigon 1500 unit be used with another updated software?

    Hi;

    I have a navigon 1500 gps unit.

    I was wondering if the hardware in it would support a more updated software package from another maker?

    Navigon does not update US maps any longer and was wondering if this unit could be used in any other way?
