In the process of installing a new battery in my Garmin 2555LMT, apparently I managed to pull the connector band loose on the screen portion of the unit. I'm told it's not fixable.....what do you think?

Am wondering also if it's possible to transfer (upload?) the data stored on the GPS unit to my home PC, with the object of later downloading them to a new unit.. I have a lot of saved locations that I hate to lose.

Any advice welcome and much appreciated!

If your 2555 is detected by Garmin Basecamp or Mapsource, then it will be possible to copy waypoints (favourites) to your computer and then save them for download to a new device

Many thanks for your reply, Nuvi-Neble. I had queried Garmin about the same time I joined GPS Forums, and they responded amazingly quickly with advice to try the BaseCamp method. Seems to have worked!

    Thanks again!
