967 mph airliner

Flying SFO to Germany with my 60CS recording the route, the captain reported picking up a tail wind and we would arrive ahead of schedule. After arrival I noticed the max speed was 967mph. I know that air speed and ground speed are different. Would there be any corrections to make before I can brag about how fast I flew? Do speed formulas used by the gps need corrections for altitude, the pressurized cabin does not record true altitude?

I am thinking that max speed was an anomaly. The gps samples the signals from satelittes about every second or two. Not sure , but I would guess the GPS grabs the largest distance traveled in a particular time interval and displays that as the Max speed. So if there is an error in position, showing a large distance in a time interval, it might artificially inflate the Max speed indicated. I have had my unit display a Max speed of 19 mph while I was walking. My legs are not that long.

Thanks for the reply, wasn't sure that it was possible to loose a tick of the clock and get a false reading. I will still brag that I have the "right stuff" by flashing the proof from the garmin history, and say I flew faster than Gen Chuck Yeager.
