Hello, I'm new to this forum.
Not sure where to post this... I thought Trimble bought Ashtech... or was it Magellan?
Anyway, I had this old Ashtech G8 lying around in the parts drawer.
Yeah, it's pretty much an antique.
I was hoping to get it to work.
    It's installed inside a G8 Evaluator chassis.
Serial comms seems to be working. The com port is set to 4800 baud.
I have an active antenna connected to the SMA port.
I'm sure the almanacs and ephemeris files are all outdated.
The problem is I can't set the time.
I installed a new RTC battery.

    Welcome to the forum.
The problem with early GPSs is that they only had a 20 year 'week counter', some failed to store the correct date after only 10 years, there is some background info. on the (Link Here)
