DO NOT Update your DriveAssist with latest Map/Software

I have (had) a fully functioning DRiveAssist 50 and after attempted Update, the GPS will not recognize the micro SD card. (Yes... it's an OLD unit now)
I replaced the card and NO improvement. I did the factory RESET and tried the map update. Garmin Express stopped connecting to the GPS unit.

Called Support... and followed their steps... and EVERYTHING got worse. As instructed, Reinstalled Garmin Express, Uninstalled/Reinstalled the GPS Unit but unit no longer found.

Garmin said the GPS is now dead. (said this was the first generation of their new Update)
Said, Buy a new one, here's a discount code.

DO NOT UPDATE YOUR WORKING DRIVEASSIST UNIT!!!

How old is the DA50?
What country are you in?
Did you buy a replacement?

DA 50 is from 2018. Light use.

I bought another "used" light use DA 50 to replace it... and it had never been updated it.
I (stupidly) attempted to update it... and it crashed, but did not brick the GPS.

Garmin supports techs are currently looking into it because it only loaded the USA maps on the first attempt... and reloaded USA and Foursquare files on the second attempt... but would not load the Canada Mexico maps.

Garmin Tech Support analyzed the GPS files and has responded stating that the Files are all present on the device.
The device does not work with the new Update Download... so too bad, buy a new one.

DO NOT INSTALL THE MAP UPDATE!!!
Keep using your working DriveAssist 50 WITHOUT the Update and it will work fine.
