EoW rollover update issue on older Etrex H

I picked up an Etrex H, AA Powered handheld the other day and just can’t get it to obtain the correct date.

Firmware updated to latest I can find, 3.40.

I have the GPS EoW.exe program from Garmin and it runs, ID’s the unit and updates the date to something like 2025.

After a reboot and satellite lock it jumps back down to 9th December 2004.
Week 234 I think I worked out..
So it seems to correct the date one 1024 epoch ‘up’ but not to our current date.

As I say, when the tool runs it sets a date of 2025, but once a lock is achieved, even after an hour of use outdoors, it will not jump to 2024

Demo or GPS off modes do not allow manual date change.

Anyone have any other tricks or apps to get it displaying correct date ?

I did an Etrex Venture ( joystick model ) a few months back, but this yellow, no joystick, model H just won’t hold the date.

I'm wondering if the EoW program which fixes a twenty year block of time problem is effectively past it's sell-by date so to speak as in some cases it now needs to fix two blocks of twenty years !

Funnily enough i was thinking much the same. but that does not explain how the GPS does show 2025 AFTER using the tool.

I see the H has firmware version 3.60 ..but i have 3.40

The info i found about Firmware 3.60 says to use Garmin Express..

but even going back to version something like 2.3 of garmin expresss, I cannot get a Win 7 machine to see the Etrex H from within Express

MapSource see the Etrex H as I can download and upload waypoints to it, just Express not seeing it.

I am being bloody minded here, but do not want this to beat me!

I am going to send customer support a mail , see if they have stand alone 3.60 installer.



But that thought about the tool not going over two update epochs..no ..can't be that..I did a green joystick type Etrex Venture last month

Is there an adapter for the original eTrex H cable with the 9 pin connector to USB?
