Explorist not synching

I have an Explorist XL and,also, have Vantage Point installed on my PC. I have converted POI and waypoint data to .kml to use with Google Earth. However, in spite of the GPS being recognized by the software and the unit data is displayed, the icons for synching data are not operational. As a result, I have been unable to transfer new POI and Waypoint data for a new trip to the Explorist. This is a new problem, in that, I have never had a problem transferring data before. Anyone with any ideas???

I have had to reinstall Vantage due to a malware infection, but all other software works fine.
