Garmin express not recognizing my nuvi 2595

i am using windows 10 pro .at the end of the install it prompts me to plug in my unit.but it does not recognize it. i hear the familiar windows beep but the software does not .i have tried uninstalling it completely. rebooting before.multiple attempts at every which way i can think of but so far no luck.
express does tell me it has 3 updates for me. it charges no problem.

Did the problem start when you started using Windows 10 pro?, have you used Garmin Express to connect to this Nuvi 2595 using a different operating system?
