Garmin GPS 73 clearing trip data

I just purchased a GPS 73 to use while sailing. I find the instructions inadequate. For example, I have set up the Instrument page to show speed, heading and trip odometer. When I try to reset trip data, it does not clear the display so I don't know if it is cleared or not.

Does anyone have advice?

This would normally be done from the Trip Computer screen with :- Menu >> Reset >> Clear Track and Trip Data Reset Both >> Enter >> Yes
