Unless the GPS60 still powers up and you can see the folders when connected to a computer you have no way of retrieving the Waypoint files, any files stored on a removable microSD card will be readable using a computer

Waypoints are located at :- /Garmin/GPX/Waypoints[xxx].gpx

hi thx for the reply Nuvi-Nebie this model has not got a micro sd think that was next model up from mine..was thinking of buying a another gps 60 and getting a repairer to possibly change the memory where waypoints are stored from one unit to the other(removing memory unit from original circuit board and resoldering to another unit in attempt to recover waypoints) just not sure where on circuit board the memory is situated..Original unit does not power up or communicate via computer..

If you can read the numbers on the multi legged chips you may be able to enter them into a net search to identify what they are, I would guess the main chip inside the 'can' is the GPS receiver but even that may have built-in memory

I don't like to be negative but there is also the possibility that the GPS60 doesn't have any permanent memory for Waypoints, RAM (Random Access Memory) only holds data while it is supplied with power, either from the main AA batteries or the internal backup battery, it looks like your unit had a backup battery here :-

If your unit only has RAM and the internal backup battery has been removed then all waypoint data has been lost
