Hi there, I recently bought a side by side that came with a Garmin Montana 650T GPS and when I try and power it on the Garmin symbol shows up on the screen for a few seconds then powers off again. I've changed the batteries, and also tried to update it but can't finish the update due to not being able to turn it on. Just wondering if anybody has any ideas on what I could try and do to get it working?

There are several reasons that a GPS will turn off after a few seconds, they include corrupted operating software, corrupted map files, a faulty internal backup battery and 'dead' main batteries

Does the unit still turn off when powered externally via the USB socket?

Try leaving the unit on USB charge for a few hours to see if this changes it's 'turn off' time

Is it possible to wipe all the data from the GPS and download the firmware again? Just in case the old stuff is corrupt?
