Garmin nuvi 67 when charging to computer USB port does the device have to be off?

    Hi john,

No, the Nuvi is going into a special mode when connected to a computer because it thinks you want to transfer files, the Nuvi detects the presence of a computer by checking the data wires in the USB cable.

If you use a 'Power Only' USB cable, the Nuvi will continue as normal while being charged

After you accumulate them I suggest you ask them one-at-a-time. That should make it easier to classify, answer, and track. Too many questions on a post can get hard to follow (for me anyway).

O.K. may be some while. Just returned from exhausting trip WITHOUT the device since could not learn it fast enough to use for trip. Which would have been helpful as got to destination with well learned-rehearsed route. Got there fine. On return was turned away to detour due to some bad wreck closing bridge. From there on was hell as got lost 4-5 times in Eugene OR where it is a necessity for them to hide signs taking one to 5S or 5N which is where I needed to go. Absolutely no signs anywhere and after asking as many times as got lost, finally, finally found way home. From Eugene to Portland OR not one single rest area until nearly there. Need to rest.
