We have a Garmin Nuvi 200 series device. It has worked fine but
suddenly lost its maps. We got in the car one day and when it booted,
it said it had no maps and could not function. I have restarted it,
reset it, etc, but to no effect. Do I need to reload maps? If so where
can I get a copy of the map. I am not intersted in buying new maps, I
just want to re-load the ones that came with the device. Anyone else
    have this problem?

We called Garmin to see if they could help, but after 30 min on the
phone wtihout getting to a human gave up. Garmin, what is up with
    that?

Any and all info welcome, thanks.

Register for MyGarmin at the garmin website, download the webupdater and
hook up your device. Should detect and d/l the latest maps you're entitled
    to at no charge.

Register the device, yes. Download the maps appropriate and registered to
    your unit, no.

    And stop calling me Shirley!

Have to PAY to reload maps!

Unfortunately, you cannot download the lost maps for free if it's been 60 days since the device first connected with a satellite. Mine nuvi 1350 was 3 months old and suddenly had the problem described here -- so apparently we have to PAY GARMIN $49.95 to reload maps lost due to their software error! This does not seem reasonable! I think a product we paid good money for should work more than 60, or 90, days!!!
