Garmin Oregon 550 Waypoint ?

I have a Garmin Oregon 550. When I enter a waypoint it always starts on waypoint number 10 (not 1,2 or 25 etc) When I check my waypoints ,the waypoint marked is there ,but just wondering WHY it starts on #10 always. Thank you

Are you saying that when this new waypoint is entered, that it is the only waypoint held on the unit?, obviously, you would expect the new waypoint to be '10' if the unit already holds 9 others, maybe the other 9 waypoints are on the unit, but are not being displayed. You could display all waypoints on your computer using Garmin Basecamp

What I'm saying ,is that with no waypoints on the GPS it starts at number 10 and every waypoint I add after that starts at 10 also. It stores all the separate waypoints,but it starts at number ten for every new waypoint.
