Garmin's Lifetime Map Updates

Im looking to get a Garmin GPS ASAP but i haven't been able to figure out which is best for me. Ill be using it all around Europe (parents travel a lot) but i am originally from South East Asia so ill be needing maps for that corner of the planet as well.

What i wanted to know is will Garmin's Lifetime Map Updates cover all my GPS map needs, i.e. provide me with maps for South East Asia (Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore) and major European countries (UK, Western Europe).? I have never bought a GPS system before so am a lil fuzzy on the details.

You'd have to call garmin and ask them if they have region specific GPS units or if one GPS is capable of any regions maps.
