Hi,

Does anyone know if it's possible to trigger a button on a PDF by GPS.

I mean, when your position on a map, reaches a certain point (ie 'the button') can it trigger the button?

Are you using PDF for Portable Document Format?, the only instance I can think of where entering a certain 'zone' triggers an action is an App. on a smart phone called 'Where-I-Go', this is an offshute of Geocashing, you program what the player of the App. will do when a certain location is reached

Hi, do you know how I can locate on a PDF map? How can I save a PDF map to a GPS or smartphone? Well thank you.

To get a map contained in a PDF file onto a Garmin unit you would have to convert the PDF into a JPEG file, when you have a JPEG map it is possible to create a KMZ file that can be loaded onto some Garmin units and used as any other map, please not not all Garmin units can work with this type of map, there is a link (Click HERE) that explains the steps in making a KMZ file from a JPEG file and also has a list of Garmin units that can use this type of map

Thanks, I'll take a look. The procedure is a bit complicated. What equipment do you recommend to buy for such use?

You need a Garmin GPS that accepts custom maps e.g. :-
  • Alpha 100
  • Alpha 200i
  • Astro 900
  • Astro 430
  • Astro 320
  • Colorado series
  • Dakota series
  • epix
  • eTrex 20/30 and 20x/30x
  • eTrex Touch series
  • GPSMAP 62/64/66/78 series
  • Montana series
  • Monterra
  • Oregon series
  • Rino 600 series
  • Rino 750 and 755t
The cheapest is probably the eTrex 20, You would also need a computer running Google Earth
