I haven't used my Garmin nuvi 2555 in a long while but I hooked it up to my computer as I used to, it lit up and said it was loading maps and then it clicked off. It never showed up as a drive on my PC. I have Garmin Express installed and it doesn't see my device either. Any ideas for what I can do?

Does the 2555 turn on and work OK when it is not connected to a computer ?
If you repeat the procedure you detailed above does it do the same 'On' then 'Off' ?

If unused for a long time the battery can get so flat that it won't turn on even when supplied via the USB connector, if this is the case the unit would need a new battery

I have a second unit of the same model and that doesn't work either. I took one into my car and tried it and it worked perfectly. I even asked it to take me home and it provided instructions just as it is supposed to do.

I think the internal battery is very low, you could try charging the unit from a mains powered USB charger until the unit will power up from it's own battery power and then re-try the computer
