There are many different file formats for storing / exporting GPS Waypoints, Tracks, Routes etc., even a single GPS manufacture can use several different formats, some file types store only a single GPS format, e.g. only Tracks, while others can store all of the above and more

Here are is a selection of programs and online services that will convert between GPS file formats, they are all free to use unless otherwise stated :-

    GPS Babel

This program is available for Windows, MacOS and Linux, it has very comprehensive list of files that it will handle
(See list HERE), and has a GUI front end as well as command line operation

    Trace GPS
This is an online file converter that uses GPS Babel to do the converting, It does not appear to handle all the file types in the list above, but is more convenient for the ones it does cover

    GPS Visualizer

This is another online converter that outputs plain text and GPX formats, the conversion is displayed 'on-screen' and the output file can be downloaded to your computer, here is a list of the file types it handles :-

    Expert GPS (Free Trial Only)
