How to make a via

I am new to garmin nuvi 2509, and i cant find out how to make a via for a journey.
I want to go from A to B via C.
When I ask for route A to B, i am given two choices, but not the one I want, (ie via C)
any help appreciated!!

You can do this with Trip Planner, e.g. Apps >> Trip Planner >> New Trip >> Select Start location then select a previously stored Favourite or select an Address or point at the map etc. >> Select, you will then have a new trip with one location, next select the '+' icon, select the 'Via' location >> Select, you will now have two locations in your trip, select '+' again and enter a third location (your destination), when you have all three locations in place, select Next and the Route will be displayed, enter Save and give the new trip a name, you can now select 'Go' to use the trip now, or Map to display the new Trip, if you enter Return >> Return you can select Trip Planner at any time and Select the Trip name to make the trip at a later date
