Hello,

can you tell me how to transfer a gpx file directly from an android phone to a Garmin 30x? (Without using a.pc)

Thanks!

Have you been told this is possible?, as far as I can see the 30x does not have Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connectivity, so you will have to use the USB interface, although Android devices also have a USB interface, I don't know of anything that runs on an Android platform that would send files directly to the 30x via say a USB hub. The 30x does perform Unit-to-unit transfer (sharing data wirelessly with similar units), but you would have to find an Android phone that supports ANT wireless technology (they do exist apparently) and also an Android App. that would communicate with the 30x using the ANT interface

Hi nn,

Thanks for the fast reply!

I didn't have anyone tellme there was a direct transfer...just thought there would be being the 30x version just came out a few months ago...so assumed it would include a way to do this. Ive just been reading about the android phones feature to host USB(usb-otg), so I'm looking into that possibility. Have you used the usb-otg?

As you say it may be possible to use a USB-On-The-Go enabled Android phone to send data to your 30x, I think you would need a USB-OTG converter cable between the Android device and the 30x and an App. to control the transfer. Here are some links I found following a bit more digging :-

Two Apps. that claim to check compatibility :-

An App. that claims to do the transfer :-

An article discussing Android to GPS transfer :-

Bit of a faff but put etrex30 sd card in your android and create a directory Garmin/gpx folders then drop the gpx file in. Goes without saying you need to have gpx file in android internal folder ;)
