Users can 'Watch' a thread or a forum, this means any time another user adds to the watched item the watcher will be E-Mailed, a user can be 'Followed' by another user, this means a follower will be E-mailed if the person being 'followed' adds to a forum / thread, it isn't as creepy as it sounds
