I could read NMEA message output strings on my computer. I want to show LED indications for a) GPS lock b) SBAS correction status. How to derive this using the UART port of the GPS receiver module. Can some one help me with the necessary understanding & steps to do this for my project?

Pretty useful reference on NMEA standards you have given; i do appreciate your response.
The GPS chipset manufacturer provides software so that we can display the NMEA message frames on the laptop. But I want to derive LED indications which need to derive DC voltage to drive the LEDs. Essentially, the NMEA messages are ASCII codes sentences. Probably. some logic is required to be written using the software to read the message sentences and derive the voltage to drive the LED. I am looking for this.
