Magellan 4000 XL

I have a old Magellan 4000 XL and as of this year it will not update to 2017, it automatically resets to 02mar98 even after I enter the present date. Is it because of how old it is? I really like it and hope there is a way to correct this issue. It gave the correct month, day, and year in 2016. Thank you.

I think this is the week rollover problem, early GPS units were only aware of a specific time window of about 20 years, at the end of this period they revert back to the start, I have more info. on this here :-

Unfortunately, I don't think this can be fixed for Magellan units
