My vehicle has an AC outlet that is more convenient to use than the cigarette lighter plug that is used with my Magellan Roadmate. The AC power cord for charging my cell phone has the same end plug as the Magellan cigarette lighter plug. Question: can I use the cell phone power cord to power my Roadmate?

If not, is there some other AC power source for the Roadmate?

Is it possible to transfer data from your Roadmate to a computer via a USB contector?, if the answer is yes, then it must be expecting 5Volts as an input voltage and any USB connector will be O.K. to use

    Appreciate the prompt reply, thanks.
Did a little more checking. The cell phone connection is not the 5V 2A the
unit needs for power so it will only recharge the battery and not operate
the GPS. I'm looking for a 5V 2A micro USB charger for some other
    purpose. Again, thanks.

It would be much more efficient to use the 'cigarette lighter' socket if possible as you waste power in every conversion, from a 12V car battery (or possibly 24 V), converted up to 110 V AC (or possibly 230 V AC ), then converted again from 110/230V AC back down to 5V DC probably means you are drawing twice as much current fron the vehicle's battery as you would without the 'AC' stage

Good suggestion; it was just that the AC plug is handy and the cigarette plug is tucked away.
