Hi folks, I am as new as can be. But long time user of Magellan GPS. So old that I still have my Magellan Roadmate 300 lol. And that is old! But I also have a 5045 that I have a question about. When looking at the owner's manual I find this: "Micro SD card slot. (A micro SD card is optional and can be used to back up and restore data.)"

What does that mean? Why would I want to back up data when I have "previous destinations" option. Why is it necessary for anyone to back up data?
Is there any other use for that mini SD card? Like can I play music, or watch videos for example?

    I'm just curious.
    Thank you
    EL

The MicroSD slot is usually used to hold additional maps that would not fit in the 'main' memory area, as it is a removeable medium, it is also useful for adding / changing maps without having to connect to a computer.
