I've seen TomTom for PDAs but I already have a USB GPS receiver so don't
really want to replicate buying stuff for my PDA.

I've used AutoRoute in conjunction with my laptop and GPS reciever in-car
before but was wondering if there was any software available that gave audio
prompts; maybe an add-on to AutoRoute is available?

    Thanks for any suggestions

  2. The only UK software that has spoken directions is InfoMap Navigator. This
has speech, route-recalc, UK PostCodes etc and is actually quite good! It
has a few bugs and the user interface is complex but for £34.99 for the UK
version or £49.99 for Europe it's hardly overpriced!

    See http://www.directions.ltd.uk/moreinfo.php?id=1020

Another alternative although not a cheap one is Socket's new 'MyNavigator'
PocketPC Nav Software. It's only currently available as a package with a
Socket Bluetooth GPS but interestingly the software also runs on a PC with
the same voice and nav as the PDA. The pacakge includes Navtech maps of
Europe but is over £400 so may not be the solution for you!

As Darren says infomap Navigator is OK but, do not download their update
from the website, or adjust the road preferences
as this will cause you problems. It is buggy, fiddly, quirky, but otherwise
very good once you get to grips with it . I use it every day.
