New to me GPS - What to do next?

Hi All,
I just picked up a Magellan Explorist 610 second hand in like new shape....The previous owner had some stuff saved on it....some geocahes and way points....
What should I do...restore to factory defaults or just venture in slowly with the user manual before deleting stuff...
Intended use is to do some geocaching with my kids and then download some marine maps of my area for boating.

If you have no use for the existing geocaches etc. I would return the unit to factory default, you will then be aware if every change from default that you make. Even if you want to keep the user data, I would back it up and then return the unit to default, so as far as you are concerned it is a 'new' unit
