    Hi,
I have just been given a Garmin Drive 50 sat nav as a birthday prezzy, it has taken me a couple of day's of reading the user manual to try and learn how to fly it. My Q is what is the function of the mem sd card and has it got anything to do with storing of trip data?
    Regards

Your Drive 50 can use a microSD card to add to it's standard memory, it can store all the same files, e.g. map files, Tracks, Routes, Points Of Interest (favorites), etc. that the standard memory can. As all these files are fairly small apart from the map files, the main reason for fitting a microSD would be to have dual map areas, say Europe + USA
