My Garmin Nuvi 2460 takes forever for me to find a POI by searching with "spell name". I have to look up the exact physical address for navigation. What is wrong with it? Thank you.

You don't have to enter the whole name, it will work on the first few letters, you can also select from a list in a sub folder (if the POIs are contained in sub folders)

Thank you for the reply. I was trying to find a Hyatt hotel in another state. I went to "Hotel or Motel" under POI. If I type the whole name for search, it didn't find anything. But if I type "Hyatt" for search, it pops up a lot of Hyatt hotels starting from closest. I went all the way to the bottom and couldn't find it. The last one is 132mi away, but the one I am looking for is further than that. I don't remember I have option to define state for POI search.

This is possible, you can 'search near' a different place to your current location, the steps are :-

    Where To ?
[Tap the screen where it says "Searching Near"]
    Select "A Different Town"
    Enter Town = New York
    Select from list
[The Searching Near should now say : New York]

Now continue your search for 'Hyatt' as before
