My Nuvi has been working fine on my PC for years. Yesterday, after the lastest Windows 10 update, I kept getting an error message

    USB device not recognised
The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned and Windows does not recognise it.
    Windows Explorer.

It seems to be a Windows USB driver problem where the W10 update has installed the wrong driver.

The workaround is to plug a USB Hub (mine is a USB 4portHUB) into the PC and and plug the Nuvi cable into the hub.

Bingo! The Nuvi now works, presumably because Windows is seeing the 4portHUB and not the Nuvi itself.
