I have a Garmin GPSMAP 62s. It seems to do a great job of locking on to signals quickly, and appears to be true to the company claim of < 3m accuracy in a lot of unobstructed locations (I have seen 8 ft, but no less).

Can anyone speak to their experiences of using an external antenna mounted in a way that it can be raised and lowered in difficult terrain for obtaining a better signal? I know they are mag mount, but think out of the box with me...I'd be in the woods, in a field, on foot.

    Thanks!
