I'm wanting to buy a basic hand held to be used for farming and ranching work. I do not need maps either road maps or topo maps. All I'm going to use it for is to mark areas where soil samples have been taken, or where fence lines are. I had thought about a Data Logger, but I haven't seen one with a display on it. I've been looking at hand held by Clestron, the reTrace Deluxe. It has pretty much everything I need, but there seems to be some issues with battery life. Also, I use the Linux operating system and need a unit I can read via USB.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
