Hi, new to this forum. I have an Etrex Legend HCx I used happily for years, mostly when mini-biking out in vast CA desert, but it's sat unused for ~4-5 years. Took it out, seems okay (though "Dist. to Next" doesn't seem to change.) I plan to start using it again for off-roading, now in a different state (TN). Basically I've just used it to mark/ find waypoints; it's been GREAT for that; not sure if I really need more. My question is whether or not some more current models offer enough improvements/features/ease of use that it's worth spending ~$500 for a new one? I realize this is entirely subjective, but I would welcome opinions/thoughts on this. I guess if I was asked what specifically would convince me to get a new one, it would be easier use- less annoying to get around the interface, maybe better battery economy, or...any features that are fantastic that I'm missing out on. Thanks!

As you say it is subjective but I would say if your current unit is working reliably then a newer unit will supply little extra benefit, the way forward may be to look at other units that friends may have so that you can decide before purchasing a new unit
