Hi
Not that knowledgeable on GPS devices (Have a Garmin Forerunner 305 for personal training) but looking to understand what the minimum spec is for a GPS device to be worn on an individual so that it can send back location information at regular intervals to a central website that can show positions on maps.

Looking for something small, fairly inexpensive and able to be identified with a unique code.

I have no clue as to which manufacturers to approach and what specification to give them.

I intend the system to work in the UK, if that is relevant.

Any help will be greatly appreciated at this very early stage.

Thanks

GPS tracking using an Android phone

Have you ever considered using a smartphone as a tracking device?

My company just launched a free GPS tracking app for Android called inViu routes. All you need is an off the shelf Android phone. Sign up for a free inViu web account and you can view up to 4 phones' locations using any web browser.

The app has many other features, like tracking travel routes, saving POIs, taking GPS photos, and sharing them via email and social media apps on your phone. It even sets location-based notifications, alerting you whenever your tracked individual enters or leaves a defined location.

inViu routes is available in Google Play.

I hope you find it useful:)
