Can Garmin GPS display the current road speed limit all the time, like Waze? Or is it only displayed when you are using a route-to-destination, like Google maps? I often use my phone GPS and Waze app just to keep an eye on traffic slow-downs ahead of me, without any destination/route input, and it has the option to display both your speed, and the local speed limit on the road you are traveling, without a route entered. The larger Garmin screen would be handy to have, if it can do this too.

Garmin satnavs will display the speed limit for each road both when navigating to a destination AND when not navigating, the details of the speed for each road (and the changes along the road) are stored in the map file, so whereas maps like the Garmin City Navigator will allow the display of speed limits some other maps may not
