Tracking my trips

I don't know anything about gps.
I would like to track my tours and retreive each time a gpx file.

How can I do it?

Which kind of affordable tool should I buy? A gps unit? A gps tracker? I don't think that I need an expensive gadget, just one whose battery or accu lasts quite long and it is precise.

You don't need a tracker, any hand held GPS unit ( like the Etrex10) will auto create a Track that can be saved as a GPX file and then examined on a computer or shared with somone else, you can also use a smartphone with a navigating App such as OSMAnd to create the GPX track file or use a GPS logger (like a GPS hand held unit without a screen)
