Updates for purchased Garmin maps?

    Having just got my new Garmin DriveSmart 51 LMT-S (with Europe maps installed), I now need to buy a map for the USA, in time for our next trip there so that I can start our route planning. I will install this on an micro SD card which I have already inserted in the device.

    What is not clear from the info on the Garmin site is whether maps purchased for another region include any updates. I'm pretty sure that with my TomTom when I bought a USA map I got updates for a year.

    Anyone know the answer, please?
