What type of battery charger if I have different rated batteries?

    Hello,
Sorry if this is a little off topic. I use rechargeable batteries for my
Palm and GPS. Some of my batteries are 1800 mAh and some are 2300 mAh. I
have been using one charger to charge all my batteries. It just dawned on me
that is this a good idea? I mean do I need a separate charger for
differently rated batteries or would one good charger like Maha cope with
all types of batteries with different mAh ratings? Sorry if this is a dumb
question, but all the chargers I have looked at don't specify clearly the
whether they can charge different rated batteries.

    Thanks so much

The numbers are the rated capacity and should work fine on any charger. What
you need to look out for is putting NiMH batteries in a NiCad charger, or
    vise versa. Don't do that.

The other trick is that some battery chargers charge the batteries as a set,
while others charge each batter individually. If your unit doesn't have
individual LEDs for each battery, it may be charging them as a set. This
means whent he 1800mah batteries are fully charged, it'll shut off the
charger (and not fully charge the 1200mah).

I would use the Maha 401FS -- it will take up to 4 batteries
(either AA or AAA) and charges each battery individually so
you can mix the capacities without a problem during charge.
It also usually comes with a car cord so you can use it in your
car for charging the batteries. One place that I have dealt with
is Thomas Distributing (I got my 401FS from them)
    http://www.thomasdistributing.com/mhc401fs.htm I have not
had any problems with my charger at all.

outgoing email scanned by Norton Antivirus ... is that good ?

Linux users brag on how long their system stays up,
Window users assume it's a temporary condition ...
