Wrong time shown by Magellan GPS

Discussion in 'Magellan GPS' started by Jan Nademlejnsky, Dec 19, 2007.

  1. My European friend of mine asked me to post this question/problem for him.

He recently bought latest Magellan GPS and was surprised that this new unit
shows 2.5 min different time from actual (I don't remember if plus or
minus). It was exactly the same error as in his 8 year Magellan unit. Garmin
shows correct time. Magellan rep in Hungary did not have and did not offer
any answer or solution. Does anybody experienced anything like this?

    I would appreciate any help.

    Thanks
    Jan

I've had the time on two Magellan units go out by a couple of minutes. They
work fine for months, then suddenly it happens. I don't know what causes it.

The only way I could find to correct this is to do a hard reset of the unit.

There is not much you can do other then resetting the unit when this
problem occurs. This is an old bug that is still there because Magellan
ignores user bug reports. Almost all bugs I reported during the years
I used a Magellan Meridian were still present in the last firmware
    release for that model.

I decided it was time to change one day during a kayak trip when it
suddenly for no apparent reason turned it self off and restored
everything to factory defaults i.e. cleared all tracks, routes and
    waypoints.

Since then I'm using a Garmin 60CSx instead.
