Stupid question but can some one tell me 'simply' how to up date my Garmin nuvi50, I plug it in to my computer and green lines keep traveling across it,
so is that it and how long will it take??
sorry to be a bit thick

You don't say what program you are running on the computer, but I'll presume its Garmin Express, the steps are :-
  1. Run Garmin Express on your computer
  2. If Nuvi50 is not shown in Garmin Express select 'Add Device'
  3. Plug in your Nuvi50 to a USB port on the computer
  4. After a while a Green 'dot' will be displayed next to the Nuvi50
  5. Click on the Nuvi50 icon
  6. A window will open showing the Nuvi50 is connected and if any downloads are available
  7. Select the items you want to download and follow on screen instructions

Thanks for that, but am still having trouble, as per screen shot, you can see I have downloaded the Garman Express, with my user name, but when I click on the icon and plug sat nav in it says it cannot find it, but on the sat nav is a green bar going across, that has now stop with just a small bit showing,

I would expect the Nuvi50 to display a mostly black screen with "GARMIN . . . garmin.com/express" and a picture of a computer connected to a garmin device, this changes from the normal screen when the device is connected to a computer, I would try another USB cable if you have one, just in case the first one is faulty.

Bye The Way, if your Nuvi50 has the Uk and Ireland 2018.30 on it there isn't a newer map available yet anyway, look in Settings >> Map & Vehicle myMaps

Am so, so, sorry, am the biggest stupid person ever, I did not press the button on the top of the sat nav, all done and up dated now,
sorry again for being so stupid.

No problem, Just for Info, there should be a new version of maps (probably 2019.10), in the not too distant future, so it might be worth checking every now and again

Thanks, it's just that in Norfolk UK they have built a new orbital road, and it is not on my sat-nav, was wondering why.
